The Forgotten Scrolls series is a weekly look at articles previously published during my three years of blogging. Regular readers of the blog will notice I have skipped two issues. Weeks 171 and 172 were lost due to my laptop problems. To keep the terms of reference consistent, this instalment of the Forgotten Scrolls jumps three weeks ahead.
Before the usual look at articles from the archives, I direct you to my regular guest post at Ennead Games. Here I reprint an essay from my archives. This article has been dusted down, given a fresh edit, and reprinted as a guest post on the Ennead blog. This weekend, the article was my first look at presenting exposition to the Players. My original essay compared the merits of using a GMC or a Player handout to transmit information.
Last Month: Week 169
Four weeks ago, as the months turned, I launched the Versatile Vehicles contest on the blog. This contest was also affected by my laptop issues, so has only now had the voting opened. Week 169 also featured the eleventh and final part of my lengthy Improv Gaming series. This week I pulled together all the advice from the previous essays.
Six Months Ago: Week 147
Further back, at the end of May, I was counting down the last week to UK Games Expo. The long blog post for week 147 was yet another Blog Carnival sequel. In the second essay for May I concluded the exploration of my campaign finales by looking at those story arcs I ended successfully.
Last Year: Week 121
Stepping back to November 2015, I reviewed my progress over the month. My long article for week 121 was the first essay exploring The One Ring RPG. This essay looked at the way the rules help create the fellowship of Heroes.
Two Years ago: Week 69
Winding back another year to 2014, I was counting down to another Dragonmeet. My long blog post for week 69 was my sixth look at Ron Edward’s Trollbabe. This essay emphasizes how important it is to understand and articulate what a Player hopes to achieve from through their Hero’s actions.
Three Years ago: Week 17
Finally, we reach 2013, where I highlighted the late-lamented Dice of Doom podcast. The feature article for week 17 was the conclusion of my first hosting of the roving Warlock’s Journal contest. I announced the two winners of the Storm & Shield: Prime and Nemesis competition, and presented my concluding thoughts about hosting.
Once again, I hope you liked this journey through the archives of Tales of a GM. Did you find any lost treasures this week?
