Forgotten Scrolls 11: Week 174

TalesOfAGM Dice Sq SmThe Forgotten Scrolls series is a weekly look at articles previously published during my three years of blogging. Before the usual look at articles from the archives, I direct you to my regular guest post at Ennead Games. Here I reprint an essay from my archives.

This article has been dusted down, given a fresh edit, and reprinted as a guest post on the Ennead blog. This weekend, the article was the first of two looking at the rules in the excellent The One Ring game. Part one considers how the formation of the fellowship is wrapped into the character creation process:

Last Month: Week 170

heroic-nicknames-cover-thumbnailFour weeks ago, as the months turned, I launched the Storm & Shield: Nemesis and Prime pdf, to coincide with the start of the next contest. This was quite a week for promoting my pdfs. Week 170 also featured the second preview article for the Heroic Nicknames pdf. This second preview presented a whole chapter from the pdf, describing colour nicknames:

Six Months Ago: Week 148

Further back, at the start of June, I reviewed my writing progress in May. The long blog post for week 148 was the start of my lengthy Improv Gaming series. The first part presented an overview of my background reading and the help I receive from my wonderful Players:

The One RingLast Year: Week 122

Stepping back to December 2015, I promoted the kickstarter for the RuneQuest 2 reprint. My long article for week 122 was the second essay exploring The One Ring RPG. This essay looked at the Fellowship phase, which smooths the passage of time through the campaign:

Two Years ago: Week 70

trollbabeWinding back another year to 2014, I reviewed Paizo’s Plot Twist cards. My long blog post for week 70 was my seventh look at Ron Edward’s Trollbabe. This essay brought together the concepts of goals and scale, noting how the impact of the Hero changes at different scales:

Three Years ago: Week 18

Finally, we reach 2013, where I promoted another round of the roving Warlock’s Journal. The feature article for week 18 considered how Players learn a game, trying to apply the lessons from a book I read about teaching:

Once again, I hope you liked this journey through the archives of Tales of a GM. Did you find any lost treasures this week?

Happy Reading
