Writing Goals, 29th January, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Another weekend running late. Very late this week. Overall, it was a busy weekend, which never bodes well for my writing schedule. Forgive me if this is a little brief today.

Previously on Tales of a GM:

  • 4 hours – Primary Goal – Layout reprint pdf
  • 1 hour – Secondary Goal – Write long pdf
  • 1 hour – Tertiary Goal – Run & promote Blog Carnival
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 3 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Website
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • 1.5 hours – Writing Course

The reduced schedule worked well, reducing my stress as the builders worked. The reprint pdf finished the main layout, and reached the fiddly stage where I add links, bookmarks and other features. This all takes time, but greatly adds to the quality of the final book. Slow progress elsewhere, although the Blog Carnival continues to run smoothly.

This Saturday I facilitated a game of Fiasco, which was a lot simpler for me to explain to new Players when I was not playing in the game. Fiasco was another round of our brainstorming for the next story arc. The Players threw themselves into the doomed plot, and added interesting historical background along the way. Everyone seems eager to start the story arc, which should happen later in February.

Looking to this week, the builders are still with us. Thus, I set another light schedule. However, as the months turn, there are new projects to launch. I have a new writing challenge, to replace stalled the writing course. The schedule looks as follows:

  • 3.5 hours – Primary Goal – Layout reprint pdf
  • 1 hour – Secondary Goal – Run & promote Blog Carnival
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • 2 hours – Writing Month
  • 1 hour – Freelance Pitch
  • Bonus – Write long pdf
  • Bonus – Agent Submission

As you can see, a long list once I include the optional bonus tasks. However, the allocation of time is balanced, and it is possible I might suddenly have a quiet couple of days at the end of the week. It may all work out for me.

Wishing you a productive week

Phil
