March 2017 Reviewed

At the start of January, I posted my Writing Resolutions for 2017.

I keep these goals in focus by writing monthly updates about my progress. The original post outlined four categories of resolution:

  • Blogging Resolutions
  • Freelance & Publishing Resolutions
  • Fiction Resolutions
  • Gaming Resolutions

My currently schedule is fairly empty, due to the Easter holidays, so I can post this update in a timely fashion.

Blogging Resolutions

After the daily bustle of running the FebShoMo project, March was relatively quiet at the blog. As expected, traffic fell away, even though the rate of posting was very good. There were a few busy days, but overall traffic was very poor on the blog. Blogging score 2/5.

Freelance & Publishing Resolutions

The current pdf project is another in my Table Tools line. Through March, this completed editing, and entered layout. This is reasonable progress, but several week’s work remain. However, I am trying to enhance the layout of the book, so I can award a moderate score. Freelance score 3/5.

Fiction Resolutions

As you can see, March was not a high productivity month. I completed my monthly submission to an Agent, and began exploring more options highlighted in The Children’s Writer’s & Artist’s Yearbook. Finally, I wrote first drafts for two of the outlines created in February. Once again, this was a promising start, but not good enough to clear the backlog before FebShoMo ‘18. Overall, another category with moderate progress. Fiction score 3/5.

Gaming Resolutions

March was a good month for my gaming. The Shadows of Ulubrae story arc is slowly building momentum, which has benefits streamlining my prep. My wonderful Players made a big fuss of my for GM’s Day. I was treated to a poem, notebook, coffee, cake and even a card game. This game, Hero Realms, has proven very popular with all the family. A review will follow.

International GM’s Day 2017

After limited progress elsewhere, it is rewarding to find one area performing well. I feel justified in awarding full marks in this category. Gaming score 5/5.

March 2017

The final score for the month is a disappointing 13/20. After January and February were so positive, this decline is really only to be expected. I keep pushing as best as I can, but my schedule was rather packed through March. April begins with the Easter holiday, so will not see a huge improvement. Maybe I will turn things around when the boys return to school.

Happy Gaming
