Writing Goals, 16th April, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Happy Easter!

Here we are at the end of the school holiday. It was another mixed week with the boys, featuring moments of stress. Boredom is often the problem, which is solved when they return to school. Only two more days, and then the house will be at peace.

Previously on Tales of a GM:

  • 1.5 hours – Primary Goal – Layout long pdf
  • Bonus – Secondary Goal – Webcomic compilation pdf
  • Bonus – Tertiary Goal – Warlock’s Journal Entry
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • 1 hour – Agent Sub
  • 30 mins – Writer’s Yearbook final task
  • Bonus – Writing Program

This holiday schedule worked well for me. The pdf layout is virtually complete, as this is a task I can perform when the boys are chattering in the next room. I was therefore able to invest extra time here. I also submitted to an agent and the latest round of the Warlock’s Journal contest. Somehow I missed the last Yearbook task, so that will roll over to next week.

The boys were more interested in their tablets than playing boardgames with me. They spent gold for their Basic D&D characters, but were reluctant to actually play. Maybe we can squeeze in a short session tomorrow. Meanwhile, the main campaign saw the return of an old Player for Easter. Thus, the cast of Players rotated again, which is always a lot of fun. My prep ran smoothly, and the session left the Heroes ready for a Dungeon World interlude. We are taking the story to interesting places together.

Moving on to this week, it is another light schedule. There are a flurry of school events to attend, plus the usual post-holiday chores around the house. Much as I want to throw myself into my writing, I know I also need to manage my chores properly to limit stress levels. The light schedule looks as follows:

  • 1 hour – Primary Goal – Layout long pdf
  • 1 hour – Secondary Goal – Webcomic compilation pdf
  • 1 hour – Tertiary Goal – PTA tasks
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • 1.5 hours – Editing FebShoMo first draft
  • Bonus – Writer’s Yearbook final task

The list is slowly changing, and a couple of these items should be removed for next week. The long pdf is close to completion, which will move my focus. If I can work through this schedule and my chores, then I will be very pleased with my output.

See how I performed here

Wishing you a productive week

Phil
