- Weekend Road Trip
- Reading HeroQuest Glorantha
- Rules Update
There was no gaming for me last Saturday, as I had a weekend break with my wife. We had an early start, and a long day, so were not in the mood to even play a card game in the hotel. The closest I came to gaming was reading more of the rules for HeroQuest Glorantha. Each time I revisit the rules, I find another area to highlight for the Players. Thus, our first session back with HQ will feature a short presentation about new rules features.
During the hours sat in the car over the weekend, I found plenty of time to think about the campaign. Making plans for the game counts as game prep. Slowly, the structure for the middle part of the Shadows of Ulubrae campaign is falling into place. Should the Players want to pursue every option, then the game could run for a lot longer. I suspect, as time runs out, the Players may need to focus on fewer threads, but we are not at this point yet. Assuming the Players do not complicate the story further, there is already enough here to keep me excited.
Looking ahead to this week, we are not roleplaying for another weekend. The Players preferred the option of boardgaming, rather than yet another session of Dungeon World. Once again, this gives me a limited prep burden for the week. I need to push forward with planning the plots for the main campaign, and possibly some longer-term game prep. Reading the Heroquest Glorantha rules reminded me again of those areas of the setting where I fail to achieve my vision. So, extra work on cults and heroquests are needed. This should be enough to keep me busy tomorrow afternoon.
The Prep in Progress series are short summaries of my prep for the ongoing Tales of the Hero Wars campaign.
