Writing Goals, 28th May, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Early start on a sunny morning. The day is shaping up to be another hot one, which is not my thing. I will be shutting the sun out of the house today. In the meantime, I am writing as much as I can while it remains cool.

Previously on Tales of a GM:

  • 3 hours – Primary Goal – Webcomic compilation pdf
  • 1 hour – Secondary Goal – Advert banner for DriveThruRPG
  • 1 hour – Tertiary Goal – Dice Photos
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • 2 hours – Fiction – Write FebShoMo first draft
  • 1.5 hours – FebShoMo SF research

Last week was my final chance to write in peace, as the boys are on half-term holiday now. Thus, I pushed hard and completed the latest first draft. This rolled in at over 7k, about 2,200 words too long. This will take a lot of editing, but I am happy with the story, and very pleased to have it completed before half-term.

The webcomic layout reached the tricky index stage. This is one of the final pages to add to the layout, but takes a long time to ensure all the dots and page numbers align. As ever, the end result is satisfying, but it is a fiddly process. Elsewhere, I made solid progress and blog traffic took a huge boost when somebody browsed through the bulk of the issues of the online webcomic.

Last week was also satisfying for my gaming. I found the time to play a solo game of Formula De on Games Night, which so rarely happens. I am determined to find more time for gaming. Yesterday, we completed our Dungeon World interlude, with the Heroes victorious in their quest. There were still issues with the rules, but overall the session flowed better.

Moving forward, this is now half-term week, with a road trip to UK Games Expo at the end of it. Thus, my writing time will be very limited. The combination of childcare and holiday prep will keep me busy. Thus, I have a minimal writing schedule:

  • 1 ½ hours – Primary Goal – Webcomic compilation pdf
  • Bonus – Secondary Goal – Warlock’s Journal Entry
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
  • 1 hour – General Fiction

Hopefully, I can snatch enough time for the writing and blog while the boys are on their tablets. I also hope to squeeze in extra gaming with the boys, which should make the week more bearable.

Wishing you a productive week

Phil
