Writing Goals, 16th July, 2017

Hi Everyone,

As you can see, I am already behind with my schedule today. There are always plenty of chores on a Sunday, and a trip into the loft for boxes proved stressful. I am also promoting the voting round for the latest Storm & Shield contest, which added to my workload.

Previously on Tales of a GM:

  • 1.5 hours – Primary Goal – S&S: Doomsday Devices pdf
  • 30 mins – Secondary Goal – Planar pdf
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Website
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • 1 hour – Fiction – Apply to Literary Agent
  • 1.5 hours – Editing – Long FebShoMo story

I made good progress last week, even if the voting post for Doomsday Devices was a day late. I received five entries, which is the best for a long time. There are some very interesting submissions, two of which are woven closely to the ongoing story. I hope you can find the time to read the entries and vote for a winner:

Voting for Storm & Shield: Doomsday Devices

Elsewhere, I completed the edit for the longer story, and this is now with readers for initial feedback. I applied to another Literary Agent, despite the inherent stress involved. One of these days I will receive an encouraging response. In conjunction with promoting the contest, I also worked hard on the pdf for Doomsday Devices. This should be ready to release shortly after the close of voting on Friday.

We roleplayed yesterday, so I had game prep to squeeze into my week. This proved troublesome, as I struggled to produce a Player Handout. I finally printed it out Saturday morning, and then did not use it in the end. It will be ready for next weekend.

Speaking of which, this is my final week before the long school holiday. Given the number of chores outstanding, and the sheer volume of work needed to prepare the house for the builders, I am only assigning myself a light schedule. This also makes space for a little quiet time, before I have the boys for six long weeks. My limited schedule looks like this:

  • 3 hours – Primary Goal – S&S: Doomsday Devices pdf
  • 30 mins – Secondary Goal – Planar pdf
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Website
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • Bonus – Writing Program

This is probably my base schedule for the rest of the summer. I can give one last push for the contest pdf, and anything else is a bonus.

See how I performed here

Wishing you a productive week

Phil
