Writing Goals, 23rd July, 2017

Hi Everyone,

The long summer holiday has begun!

So, goodbye peace, farewell writing, hello stress. Much of yesterday was spent gaming in Norwich, so it was not such a bad beginning. The real trouble starts later this week, when the boys have whole days together at home. However, life keeps rolling along.

Previously on Tales of a GM:

  • 3 hours – Primary Goal – S&S: Doomsday Devices pdf
  • 30 mins – Secondary Goal – Planar pdf
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Website
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • Bonus – Writing Program

As it was my final week of quiet, I tried to focus more on the various chores, and a spot of self care. Yet, I made good progress with my limited goals. The Doomsday Devices contest is now closed, a winner chosen and the pdf is close to completion. I will email the contestants later today, and hope to release the pdf this week.

The planar pdf, my next project, is ticking along. I just need to keep that book alive through the summer, to ensure I can focus hard on finishing this book in the autumn. The blog was not quite as busy as I hoped, but there were no major gaps in posting. I miss the creative writing, but too many other tasks have priority.

Overall, the week was good for gaming. I fitted in a solo game of Tiny Epic Galaxies on Thursday night, with a solo review due soon on the blog. Yesterday’s gaming saw two bonus games of Hero Realms, plus a fascinating HeroQuest Glorantha session. Sometimes the Players choose to push hard into a plot without realising what they are doing. The setting is about to push back, and it should be fascinating. My hack of 14 Days is running smoothly, even if the Hero is struggling hard with rehab.

Looking ahead, it is the start of the summer holiday proper. It is those days when I have both boys which are the real challenge. There should be two days of full childcare, so I have home school and bonus boardgames planned. Hopefully it will all run smoothly, with minimal stress. Yet, my schedule has taken another hit as I pare it right down:

  • 2 hours – Primary Goal – S&S: Doomsday Devices pdf
  • 30 mins – Secondary Goal – Planar pdf
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Website
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • Bonus – Writing Program

Given my limited time this week, I will be happy to launch the pdf and keep the blog ticking along.

See how I performed here

Wishing you a productive week

Phil
