Forgotten Scrolls 44: Week 207

The Forgotten Scrolls series is a weekly look at articles previously published during almost four years of blogging. Before the usual rummage through the dusty archives, I direct you to my regular guest post at Ennead Games. Here I reprint an old essay.

This article has been given a fresh edit, a little more polish, and reprinted as a guest post on the Ennead blog. This weekend, the article was the first part of a short series focused on a catacomb location used in a previous cycle of tales. I begin by exploring our process for brainstorming the location:

Villa Catacombs, Part 1: Brainstorming the Background

Last Week: Week 206

Another weekly series of relevance is where I post an Updated article to the blog. This essay previously appeared at Ennead Games, but now returns home. Last week’s Updated article was the second in a short series about running chases in HeroQuest, or similar narrative games:

Updated: Chasing HeroQuest, Part 2: Running the Chase

Last Month: Week 203

Four weeks ago, I reviewed the superb Tiny Epic Galaxies. A review of the solo version will be posted to the blog soon. In that week I also posted my contribution to the June Blog Carnival. I wrote about my techniques for weaving a gonzo sensibility into my game:

June ‘17 Carnival: Chasing Gonzo

Six Months Ago: Week 181

Further back, in January, I was focused on hosting the Blog Carnival for the month. The long blog post for week 181 was my third contribution to the January Blog Carnival I hosted. I continued my month of themed essays by presenting about oracular temples in RPGs:

Prophecies & Omens Part 3: Oracle Temples

Last Year: Week 155

Stepping back to July 2016, I had started counting down to Dragonmeet. My long article for week 155 was another Blog Carnival essay. This contribution presented an arcane school of dance:

July Blog Carnival: Dancing Wizards

Two Years ago: Week 103

Winding back another year to 2015, I promoted the kickstarter for Downfall, a game about the end of a civilisation. My long blog post for week 103 was yet another Blog Carnival essay. This month I wrote about a magical bow with sunshine powers:

RPG Blog Carnival: Weapons of Legend

Three Years ago: Week 51

Finally, we reach 2014, where I noted my purchase of Dragonmeet tickets. The long blog post for week 51 marks a clean sweep of Blog Carnival entries. This month I reflected upon events in the campaign, where one Hero was taken over by an invasive leech:

July RPG Blog Carnival: An Invasive Species

Once again, I hope you liked this journey through the archives of Tales of a GM. Did you find any lost treasures this week?

Happy Reading
