Writing Goals, 30th July, 2017

Hi Everyone,

The first week of the long summer holiday is over, and I am still here!

Overall, the week was not so bad. The day with a plumber and both boys was extra stressful, but otherwise it was okay. I need to focus better on the many chores, to keep them rolling along. However, the Summer Gaming Challenge is proving a welcome coping mechanism.

Previously on Tales of a GM:

  • 2 hours – Primary Goal – S&S: Doomsday Devices pdf
  • 30 mins – Secondary Goal – Planar pdf
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Website
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • Bonus – Writing Program

I pushed hard on the pdf layout, but in the end it proved a little too much. However, the book is ready to launch now, and will still be released in July. This means I completed the entire contest process within the calendar month, which is always my goal. Likewise, the planar pdf is ticking over. So long as I write a little each week, this project remains alive. I will thus be able to dive in once the new term begins.

Elsewhere, the blog schedule was strong. Traffic died off over the week, but July has been good overall. August sees the return of the RPG-a-Day program, which previously ensured a record number of posts. Hopefully this will draw in more traffic.

Yesterday was a good day for gaming, keeping the Summer Gaming Challenge tally high. For once, the Players made use of the prep I struggled to complete through the week. I am not sure they are making the right choices in the game, but at least my time devoted to game prep is being rewarded.

Looking ahead, the summer holiday continues. I have more gaming lined up for this week, but I also need better progress with the chores. Finding the right balance through the summer is never easy. Thus, the schedule remains much the same as last week:

  • 90 mins – Primary Goal – Launch S&S: Doomsday Devices pdf
  • 1 hour – Secondary Goal – Planar pdf
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
  • 1 hour – General Fiction
  • Bonus – Writing Program

It will be very satisfying to launch the Storm & Shield pdf, and thus complete my contest obligations within the month. I hope this will then carry me forward into a busy week.

Wishing you a productive week

Phil
