August means the #RPGaDay program is live. We are now in the second week of this month-long series. The RPG-a-day project is hosted again at Brigade Con blog, were you can find the full list of questions.
What is a good RPG to play for about 10 sessions?
The short answer is that most RPG are good to play for 10 sessions. A few are clearly one-shot games, but otherwise it is possible to play anything for a short, 10 session story arc.
I have not run a game for this 10 session mark in the long Tales of the Hero Wars cycle. We have had shorter interludes, mostly one or two sessions in length. Likewise, the main games have run for longer than 10 sessions, probably averaging around 30 sessions.
If I were to run a game for only 10 sessions, then I would choose DramaSystem. We have played DramaSystem several times as interludes, but always as one-shots. It would be fascinating to see the drama token economy in action over multiple sessions. Maybe I should run a 10 session mini-campaign after Shadows of Ulubrae, just to test it. This would also give me an opportunity to invest time in preparing the setting and various rules for the next main cycle of tales, yet keep the game running. I will ask the Players about this option.
