August means the #RPGaDay program is live. We are now in the fourth week of this month-long series filling my schedule. Sadly, the questions circle back on themselves a lot this year. The RPG-a-day project is hosted again at Brigade Con blog, where you can find the full list of questions.
Which RPGs are the easiest for you to run?
Familiarity with the rules is the primary factor in making a game easy to run. This answer would lead me to a familiar game. However, I am trying to find fresher answers for the last sequence of questions.
As it turns out, running Basic Dungeons & Dragons for the boys has been a breeze. This is harking back to my early years as a GM. I believe Basic was the first game I ran, and I spent many years running AD&D. Truthfully, I suspect a few aspects of the game are run loosely. Much of the game is broadly D&D, even if it may not be strictly according to the Basic rules I have. So, a combination of GM familiarity and improvising around the rules creates a very easy game to run.
