August means the #RPGaDay program is live. We are now in the fourth week of this month-long series filling my schedule. Sadly, the questions circle back on themselves a lot this year. The RPG-a-day project is hosted again at Brigade Con blog, where you can find the full list of questions.
What is the best way to thank your GM?
I have written before about International GM day, the annual reminder for Players to show their hard-working GM a little love. As many Players have not tried life on the other side of the screen, this is a timely project. This year my Players were especially generous, and I really appreciated their efforts.
However, there are also things Players can do through the year to thank the GM for all the work. Gaming with enthusiasm is a good place to start. Be a regular Player as much as you can, or at least let the GM know when you cannot attend. I like a rolling cast of Players, but it helps my prep enormously to know which Players are likely to attend a session.
To go one step further, then a Player should communicate their enthusiasm for the game with the GM. Tell the GM what you like about the game, about the setting or a plot you enjoyed. Share what you want your Hero to achieve in the game. All of which help motivate the GM and may lead to future plots for the Player to enjoy.
