August means the #RPGaDay program is live. We are now at the end of this month-long series filling my schedule. The RPG-a-day project is hosted again at Brigade Con blog, where you can find the full list of questions.
What do you anticipate most for gaming in 2018?
The future of a roleplaying campaign is hard to predict. However, at this stage, I expect our current Shadows of Ulubrae story arc to conclude in 2018. That would make it the longest running arc of recent years, so the finale ought to be something special.
Inevitably, I have begun thinking about the next set of tales for the campaign. I want this to be a DramaSystem mini-campaign, maybe between five and ten sessions. This would give us a chance to experience the DramaSystem mechanics over a longer series. Also, the mini-campaign balances out the play experience of the lengthy Shadows of Ulubrae arc.
Finally, I anticipate enjoying my improved gaming area after the remodelling of the house due to start next month. A larger dining room allows for the long table configuration and a wall cupboard dedicated to gaming. By having my board games in the gaming area, it will be so much easier to reach the collection. Thus, the target for the 2018 Summer Gaming Challenge will be higher.
As I write this final contribution to the month-long RPG-a-day project, I grow ever more excited by what 2018 will bring. There should be another family trip to UK Games Expo, the regular Dragonmeet pilgrimage and a slew of new games to play. I also have time to plan out PhilCon better, even if it ends up being just a special day of gaming with the usual group. 2018 will be a fantastic year for gaming.
