Shadows of Ulubrae, Chapter 29, Part 1

  • Consequences
  • Childcare problems
  • Clear prep goals

Roleplaying on Saturday was one of those sessions where the previous recklessness of Players returned to haunt them. I love weaving those stories back into the game. Watching Players squirm as they try to comfort the widow of a gnome they probably killed was an interesting character study. This session was less focused on the bigger plots, but a reminder to the Players how their choices matter. It was also a chance to enjoy the personalities of the Heroes.

Sadly, it now appears I have childcare problems for the next weekend. The planned session will no longer take place, giving me more time to prepare. The Players made their plans clear to me, which means I know what needs preparing for the next session. A few GMCs, maybe a smattering of rumours and better picture of the ruling council should suffice. This is in addition to the usual actual play report and the Session Outline Sheet.

Thankfully, the boys are back at school now. Working between the school runs restricts my schedule, but I benefit greatly from the quiet period in the middle. Readying the house for the building work must also be completed, but for a few hours every day, my time is my own. So long as I stay focused, then my work-rate should increase. For the moment, however, I am just savouring the peace and quiet.

Happy Gaming

The Prep in Progress series comprises short summaries of my prep for the ongoing Tales of the Hero Wars campaign.
