Shadows of Ulubrae, Chapter 29, Part 3

  • Campaign calendar
  • Iron Council members
  • Final story elements

Last weekend was one of those where I had to cancel the roleplaying session. Heading into the weekend, I hoped I would invest at least some of the time normally spent gaming back into fresh game prep. As so often happens, this was not how the weekend played out for me.

Thus, I reached Wednesday, my nominated game prep day, with plenty of work to do. So far, I finished updating the campaign calendar, a long-overdue task. These brief notes on past events in the story should be one more tool to keep the Players informed about the campaign. I am not sure the addition of a calendar will lead directly to a fresh understanding of the challenges facing the Players, but it may help avoid plot threads being forgotten.

I also began work on a list of ruling Iron Council members. I wish now I had used more Latinate titles back at the start of the campaign, but working on this list had made me think more about the politics of Ulubrae. Hopefully, this will open up future plot developments, as I have more details to improvise around. I just need to add a few names and consider any family connections, and then this handout is also complete. After the enforced break over the weekend, I am happy to play again with a couple of new documents for the Players to consider. These certainly give the impression I have been working on the game.

Finally, I just need to complete the last few details on the Session Outline Sheet. In the rest of the week, I also need to work through a couple more story elements, just to have a broad selection of options ready for the Players, As they were kind enough to give me pointers for where they want to explore next, the least I can do is accommodate their wishes. Maybe I can even generate a few interesting rumours to help nudge forward some of the plots. Hopefully, I can find the time for these last pieces of game prep.

Happy Gaming
