- Prepping the brainstorm session
- Printing The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth notes
- Player excitement
My big prep focus for this week was to prepare tomorrow’s brainstorming session for The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth. This is our chance to create the theme park or similar setting for the following week’s Halloween special game. Tomorrow should also see the character creation process.
As with any new game, this involves a lot of printing and handout creation. A beta edition of the rules is all that is currently available. Thus, the usual Player handouts were missing. In the end, I simply printed out a large chunk of the rules. I created a sheet for me to work through outlining the steps we need to take to create the setting and the characters. Even though we have played Dungeon World, this Powered by the Apocalypse game is very different.
This is rather late in the day, but I think I am ready. I just remembered to add a glue stick to my GM bag, which is a first. The various handouts have been sorted into folders and I made brief annotations to help me find relevant sections. I have run several brainstorming sessions before, so I hope I can improvise where necessary. The rules come with a variety of prompts, which I printed out a couple of spare copies. Tomorrow may not be as slick as some sessions, but I should have enough notes to help us create an interesting setting.
Today has been rather busy, but it was worth it if the notes are enough for the brainstorming session. I am excited to see what we create. I believe several of the Players are likewise excited, so there should be a good atmosphere tomorrow. Come back next week to see what we create.
