Writing Goals, 29th October, 2017

Hi Everyone,

We are now six weeks into the building project and the temperature is starting to drop. I can see the new house slowly appear each day, but I must wait several more weeks before my writing has any chance to pick up. I try to remain positive about the process as time drags.

Previously on Tales of a GM:

1 hour – Primary Goal – Planar pdf
Bonus – Warlock’s Journal entry
1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
2 hours – Write, edit & post the long blog article
30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
1 hours – General Fiction
Bonus – First Draft Chapter Book
30 mins – Fiction Planning

The half-term week was always going to be the hardest of the whole building project. Coping with both the boys and the builders proved less stressful than I had feared. Family outings on Monday and Wednesday took us away from the house and the weather was kind to us. As expected, I struggled to complete my light schedule.

I submitted my entry to the Warlock’s Journal, which I was pleased about. The Planar pdf was finally printed out. Despite working on the project over many years, this is the longest, most complete draft of the book. Thus, editing will be a big task. I hope this will be the last major edit required. The editing is likely to rumble on through the rest of this year given my limited time.

Elsewhere, the blog received a reasonable amount of attention. October will not break any records. I am simply relieved to avoid major breaks in the posting schedule. Dedication at the end of the week prepared the rules and plot for The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth interlude on Saturday. All this effort paid off with a fun game yesterday, and the Players want to return to Planet Albion for another visit next session.

Looking ahead, I am relieved to have reached the end of half-term and return to the rhythm of the school routine. As the month turns, the December blog project rolls back into focus. A little more effort now and I avoid a frantic rush at the end of November. I may try the fiction writing again next week, but for now, the focus is on the Planar pdf. A good start on the editing should build momentum to carry me through the lengthening building work.
