Writing Goals, 12th November, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Despite the best efforts of the builders, we remain without heating for another weekend. First, the flue would not fit and then the gas fitter was not available. However, we are so close to having it working that I am sure it will be sorted soon.

Previously at Tales of a GM:

1 hour – Primary Goal – December Blog project
1 hour – Secondary Goal – Planar pdf
1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
2 hours – Write, edit & post a long blog article
30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
2 hours – General Fiction
Bonus – First Draft Chapter Book
30 mins – Fiction Planning

The disruption caused by the building work seems to have a cumulative effect. Each week I finder it harder and harder to focus. Last week was the worst so far. Despite this, I made a little progress on the December blog project. The large graphic is almost complete and the final text simply awaits another editing pass.

Likewise, I edited a couple more pages of the planar pdf. A 2018 release remains possible with a lot of effort. The blog schedule held up reasonably well, but my game prep suffered. The session of The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth did not require much prep as I was adapting a scenario from the book. I think the Players enjoyed the session yesterday, but I should have worked on the plot more.

Looking ahead, I decided to change my plans for this week. Rather than my writing, the focus for this week is much more on Christmas prep. Once December rolls around, I fully expect to focus on unpacking the house and readying ourselves for the holidays. At that point, I will have two weeks to settle into the house before the boys finish school. Therefore, the remaining Christmas presents must be sorted now. This schedule is about as light as I ever want to go:

  • Bonus – December Blog project
  • 1 hour – Social Media – Visit different Forums and write five posts or comments
  • 2 hours – Write, edit & post a long blog article
  • 30 mins – Weekly Task – Plan
  • 2 hours – General Fiction
  • Bonus – First Draft Chapter Book
  • 30 mins – Fiction Planning

This should be enough to keep the blog rolling. I must focus on the game prep on Wednesday, but otherwise, there should be plenty of time left to finish the Christmas presents and prepare for a December sorting the house.

See how I managed here

Wishing you a productive week

Phil
