The final countdown to Dragonmeet has begun. December is only a few days away, so this time next week I will be enjoying another Dragonmeet.
My favourite convention is held this year on Saturday 2nd December. The venue is stable in 2017, with the second hosting at Novotel London West, in Hammersmith, London. I do not need to research the route as part of my planning this year. I even remember the footpath up to the front door, assuming the convention layout is the same this year.
The latest development is the release of the digital programme on the Dragonmeet website. My first stop was the seminar schedule. Ken and Robin occupy the midday slot, which conveniently splits my day into two chunks. The Chaosium seminar is focused on RuneQuest, so I may give that a miss this year.
Sadly, the story game seminar starts too late for me, as I have a train to catch. The seminar which proceeds it is about investigative RPGs. If my time is dragging, then this would make for an interesting end to my Dragonmeet experience. It will be on my list of options.
With the release of the trade hall map, I can plan my visit a little better. I am sure I will browse the stalls anyway, but early access to the map helps me plan my day. I must print out copies tomorrow, and then annotate them with the stalls I want to visit. Chessex, I am looking at you.
My board game research is progressing too, thanks to a couple of Dice Tower videos. I have nearly picked a dice game to add to my list. The prime candidates also include solo options, which greatly appeals to me. The next task will be to find a worker placement game which is not too heavy for the boys.
The list of Hero Wars books is made. Much to my surprise, there seem to be only a couple of them I need. The MERP books are buried deeper on the bottom shelf of the bookcase, so listing them is a bigger task. This needs to be sorted next week.
A priority for Sunday is to reach out to my internet friends. I know two of them are coming: Chris and Kenny. In previous years I met more friends at Dragonmeet, so I will see which of them are attending.
- Even the dice are growing excited
