12 Days of Dicember: Q8

Here at Tales of a GM, I am running the 12 Days of Dicember project, a way for us to share our love of dice. Each day this month, until the twelfth, there is a new question to spark a conversation about the dice we love.  I am now past the mid-point of the project.

Day 8

Who is your favourite dice retailer?

I have two main ways of buying dice: online and at conventions. When buying games on the internet, my favourite site is Dice Shop Online. Their website is easy to use and the photographs are clear. I always find interesting dice here, which I use as a source of reward dice for my fantastic Players.

However, my absolute favourite dice retailer is Chessex, one of the highlights of my trip to Dragonmeet. Their stand features a rainbow of dice, all brightly lit under special lamps. I adore working my way along the selection, picking out another crop of d20s. Their “sea glass” dice are my favourites, as noted yesterday. These are known as Frosted in the Chessex website. I really must chase down more of these beauties.

How about you?

Happy Rolling

Ah — I should have read this post first. So sea glass = frosted. Good to know they’re still making those!

      Hi Ken,

Yeah, it might have helped if I had researched the proper name for the frosted dice. You really need to see them to appreciate their beauty. The Chessex website makes the colours seem a lot more vibrant, but that may just be the black background.

      All the best
