November 2017 Reviewed

All the way back in January, I posted my Writing Resolutions for 2017.

I keep these goals in focus by writing monthly updates about my progress. The original post outlined four categories of resolution:

  • Blogging Resolutions
  • Freelance & Publishing Resolutions
  • Fiction Resolutions
  • Gaming Resolutions

November was also dominated by the building work around the house. Progress is being made, but we are several weeks past the initial completion date. The focus now is to complete the interior work before Christmas, but our holiday preparations are already running late. Yet again, I struggled to write last month.

Blogging Resolutions

November’s traffic figures picked up again, which is always encouraging. A good month in December and 2017 should beat the 2016 numbers. Maintaining a good rate of posting was hard work around the disruption of the builders. The rush to meet my posting target at the end of the month knocks back the score one point. Blogging score 4/5.

Freelance & Publishing Resolutions

As a response to the ongoing stress of building, I cut back heavily on my writing schedule. This has been good for my well-being but greatly limited my productivity. I only tinkered a little with the planar pdf project. Freelance score 1/5.

Fiction Resolutions

This area remained weak for another month. I am happy to read a little more, but this is not enough. However, the exceptional circumstances remain and I must accept another poor score here. Fiction score 1/5.

Gaming Resolutions

Even my gaming started to suffer in November. Once again, we played sessions of HeroQuest and The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth. The boost in family gaming in October did not last as other chores kicked in. Looking back from early December, the focus on buying presents in November was a big help.

The end of November was then spent preparing for Dragonmeet by compiling a short list of games I want. This will pay dividends through 2018 as I slowly track them down. Another average month. Gaming score 3/5.

November 2017

The total for the month is a very poor 9/20. I lack quiet time and have too many other tasks this time of year. Even gaming could not save the month. Living with the building work remains stressful and distracting. December is hectic on the blog, but the month started with another great trip to Dragonmeet. I do not expect my writing to improve this month, but there is hope for the gaming.
